Life as we know it has trials that we all face from time to time. The difficult times that people experience can cause one of two results: disabling fear or immovable faith.
Trial by Fire is about strengthening and encouraging God's people with the good news that men don't have to walk in fear if they have faith in Jesus Christ. We view music as a way of gently breaking down the walls that people put up in their lives through sinful living. Christian music is becoming more and more popular but often times it is because the lyrics are vague and obscure. Our desire is to play quality music with biblically challenging lyrics while living out those convictions in our everyday lives. Three of the four members of Trial by Fire are brothers. Tyler plays lead guitar and sings back ups, Gabriel is lead vocalist, plays acoustic rhythm guitar and blues harp, Noah plays bass guitar and sings back up. The Hulbert brothers grew up in a strong Christian home environment where music was a strong part of their background. Their father Tom Hulbert influenced them through home Bible studies and his own love of music and guitar playing. Linda Hulbert has shown awesome support by driving Noah to and from bands practices for many years and many miles. We can't forget Andrew Hulbert he is the other brother who totally works our soundboard and spends hours researching for ways to make our sound more funkalicious during live performances. Vin Vanderweele is the drummer for Trial by Fire. Vin grew up in a family that had been broken through divorce and his fathers struggle with schizophrenia. At the age of seventeen Vin became a Christian and only months later joined the internationally recognized Christian metal group Scarlet Rayne. Vin had been part of Scarlet Rayne for three years and in 1991 realized that God had called him out of playing music. After twelve years of silence concerning music God opened the door for Vin to join Trial by Fire. The debut project Heart Like Gold is the result of years of writing, arrangement and practicing in the basement. What makes this project so unique is the various styles of music intertwined with deep biblical lyrics. The lyrics are inspired by the simple relationship that Gabriel has with Jesus Christ and his insatiable love for God's Word. |

Q90 radio held our 1st annual “Q”mmunity Outreach Picnic in August, 2003 at Bay Beach in Green bay. Trial By Fire performed for over 2,000 people and they were fantastic! Their high-energy performance was definitely the highlight of our event.
We have invited them to perform at our outreach event again this year. Trial By Fire is our number one choice when Q90 wants local talent to energize one of our events. We plan on asking them to perform at several outreach events in the next few years.
I believe they will be an excellent addition to Lifest, as they will attract both Christian and “secular” audiences to the event.
