Tracy is a Singer/Songwriter performer, He plays original music in many styles. Origianly from Cleveland,OH. His family moved to california at the age of 2. After growing up with the great Singer/Songwriters of the sixties and seventies! His step father Hurshel"JACK" Miller bought him his first guitar at 15 and he wrote his first song shortly there after.
He wrote a song called "AMERICAN VETERAN" at the age of 16. And "ALCOHOL" and The song "UNTRUNG" featured on MYSPACE At the age of 19. Ever since he was 15 TVK knew what he wanted to do! make music! "UNSTRUNG" is an Anthem for the Guitar Player, And TVK's outside look on what it is like for those who didn't know what they wanted to do!
One can definitly hear the "Sixties Activist" in the words of this song! After years of writing And driving his step father crazy playing the same songs over and over! In 1993 TVK decided to move to Nashville,TN. And spent almost 8 years in Nashville, Pursuing a record or writer's deal. Nearly creating a studio with a great friend and engineer Mike Pfuntner (credits on all songs) And a demo CD, The freight train went off track, Literally like a country song completion of the studio fell thru, His girlfriend left him after a Harley accident , And even lost his dog Jake.
TVK had to start over again, but was only going backwards (Actually further~ Kids Just Say No) at the end of 2000 with a very timely request his "Angels" his niece Jessica and his sister inlaw Blanka called. They asked if He would come home to California for Thanksgiving, but didn't want him to go back! Although he knew he needed to get his life together! It meant Leaving Nashville and that meant giving up! And that was something he was never going to do. In retrospect Tracy says..
"I don't believe I ever gave up on my music. I went to Nashville to meet Harold Shedd a famous Producer I idolized! I walked into "The Hall Of Fame Lounge"(Original) on the third day I was in Nashville, Back in 1993. Harold Shedd sat alone at the end of the bar, Later I spoke with him and Toby Keith And Toby's manager! But I hadn't put together this is "The Man" I had come to Nashville to see! I look at my life as "Good Luck-Bad Luck"!! The crazy thing with Harold Shedd was we kept running into each other over the years. Although It was complete coincidence, we still spoke to each other! I think it was the second time I saw him, that day I was sitting at my desk and studying the industry papers and saw an article about Harold Shedd and his label Mercury and their new rouster and that they were performing at The Wild Horse Saloon downtown that night. I remember holding my head and thinking God! I have got to talk to this man and let him know about my music! (That was a dark time for me and when I wrote the song "Rollin' Man" if anyone has lived in Nashville they know how dark the storms can get! I think that song captured the moment in which it was written!).
Later I decided to go out that night and do some writers nights! After that while I was driving home. I happened to look down a street and saw some neon lights! I turned and decided to check out the resturaunt it was the Sunset Grill in Hillsboro. I walked into the bar and ordered a beer! As I raised my bottle I looked up! And there was Harold Shedd, Toby Keith, And Toby's Manager Again! I re-introduced myself to Harold and we talked about the concert at the Wild Horse. I asked if he would listen to my stuff if I sent it! And he said he would! He was very nice and I was in awe of his sincere interest in what I was trying to tell him. I was very nervous and felt like how can I tell this quy all I need him to know in less than 60 seconds. Because he was who he was the staff at the restaurant asked him if he would like to have me taken away, but he declined and continued to talk to me. I left by saying thanks for taking the time to talk and please look for my demo.
I think he must have thought I was stalking him. He came outside the restaurant while I was talking with one of the staff and we made eye contact as he was calling for Shelly Wright one of his artitst on Mercury. Harold if your out there it was because of a 1992 Songwriters Market Magazine article by you! And your words to the Songwriter regarding moving to Nashville-Inspired me to move to Nashville. Which I did just 2 weeks after reading it, And met you just 3 days later! What were the odds! I wish we could have worked together!!~ I ran into Harold Shedd again at the world famous Barbra's Of Printers Alley while in Nashville, but I never had a Demo to get to him before his leaving Mercury! And just said hello in passing! I gave up the misery of being alone in Nashville. And the thought that I had to be there to make it"-TVK
TVK moved back to California, And with the help of his family he was able to get his life and his music back on track! A note from Tracy-
"Life has thrown me many curve balls, And I have made many poor choices! but I truley am a lucky man, with many blessings! As far ss the music career only time will tell! but no matter what!! I want to thank you for taking the time to read and listen. " My music is not just what I do, It is who I am"-TVK. I want to thank you for your support of my dreams! God bless, And come back soon!" |
