After more than a decade paying dues in clubs, bars and other venues throughout the Northeast, guitarist/songwriter Rob Kudyba's latest rock outfit -- The Bee Zoo -- turns a new corner with the release of a collection of driving modern-rock tunes on the album Boobalah.
A satisfying platter of guitar-driven sound, the record finds Rob joined by drummer Bryn Mutch, with David Chirico on bass and backing vocals. Musical assistance is also provided by Dingo Records recording artist Daniel James, with additional bass tracks by Chad MacDonald. Dingo Records is a Boston-based outfit that previously released 2 CD's by Daniel James & the Breed.
"I realized that sometimes you can't do everything yourself, so I reached out to trusted friends who helped guide and inspire me through the entire process-from writing to recording to mixing to producing the album. It's just too much to handle as one person."
The collaboration allows everyone to shine. James' vocals are p1eading on "I Want You Here With Me"; Rob puts his guitar on overdrive for "Silent Scream", as well as a rich cover of Nine Inch Nails' "Wish", which closes the record.
The latest release follows up Kudyba's eponymous three-song 1996 cassette. The earlier collection created a buzz among southern New England media, generating airplay on several FM stations and garnering reviews in a number of publications including a cover story in Mixx Magazine's January 1997 issue (#65).
