Artist Bio
Slam Buckra has performed his unique brand of "psychedelta swampop acid loon-groove" at over 2,500 shows from Seattle to San Diego, from Austin to San Francisco. He's traded licks on stage with Albert Collins and Albert King, traded blows on stage with Mojo Nixon, and once had Mose Allison threaten to break a chair over his head. A compelling stylistic mixture of Captain Beefheart, Albert King, Tom Waits, Stevie Ray, Primus and William S. Burroughs, Buckra's words, music and incendiary guitar playing have entertained, frightened and inspired listeners for many years. His stage shows are legendary and include poetry, performance art, strange props and tons of guitar playing!

Slam's 1999 CD release "Vodka Swan" is a unique aural adventure lasting over an hour! And his BRAND NEW CD "DAMES N' GALLOWS" explores even more of the sonic spectrum and is over 75 minutes long! Both CDs and tons more information about Slamwell Mingus Buckra III can be found at http://www.slambuckra.com

"Primus meets the blues. A strange cross between John Lee Hooker and Frank Zappa." The Chico News & Review

"Cowboy acid jazz." The Shasta Lance
