Formed in 1998 at the University of California, Santa Cruz Sidecar has quickly become a well-respected band in the Northern California area. Sharing a love for burritos and anything that can at least be called "music" Sidecar has turned their first release into solid college radio rotation and positive press. Sidecar's style derives from both their roots as a mariachi band as well as their eclectic musical past. Guitarist Zach Friend headed a well-known San Diego hardcore band Foundation, which sold (over the course of two records) 10,000 copies worldwide. Foundation opened for such acts as Rocket From the Crypt, Three Mile Pilot and the most rockin' band of all, Napalm Death. Vocalist Katie Knipp has fronted well known blues bands in the Northern California area as well as studied voice/music for 10 years. Bassist Jeff Manson has established himself as the master o' country fronting the ever popular country band the Barometers. Drummer Mike Mitchell (the true time keeper) has also experienced the college rock life during his days of the Santa Cruz phenoms Hate Mail Express. *Update* Sidecar has 3 songs in the top 10 of their genre here on mp3.com! |
