| We three song writers, Jon, Eric and Michael, got together around March of 1996. This union really gelled as we began working on individual and collaborated songs. Jon took the lead vocal role and it was right. Eric took over acoustic rhythm guitar and Michael stepped in on acoustic and classical lead guitar. Yeah, all was well. By September we had recorded and released a five song cassette demo. It actually had programmed drums but no one who bought a copy seemed to mind. We completely sold out of that tape! We felt very good about that. Come December we added a drummer who didn't have a drum kit, so initially he played congas. We began recording our CD in June of 1997. By the time we released it in May of 1998 we had enlisted a permanent bass player and percussionist. Then a couple months later we took in the flute player who had performed on the CD. And so seven we became and performed together until September of 1999 at which time we played our last gig in this line-up. Purple Mountain Matinee continues on as we three song writers continue our collaboration. |
