Artist Bio
The hurricane riddled year of 1995 started with the headline, “THE DESTRUCTIVE PATH OF ALLISON!” Soon afterwards, a five-piece band from Atlanta, Georgia was born. Path of Allyson's sound is very melodic and dynamic, weaving a textured canvas for the ear and mind. Their diverse sound has been compared to such bands as Radiohead, Bauhaus, Psychedelic Furs, and Tool. Path of Allyson's musical and stage presence is both magnetic and intense.
POA formed early in the year of 1995 through mutual friends and Atlanta's Creative Loafing classifieds. Since then, it has been evident that with their talent, strong skills in songwriting, and chemistry, POA has been one of the hardest working and promising bands in the growing music scene in Atlanta.
Singer Stephen Jordan sites the Velvet Underground as one of his main vocal influences, along with Iggy Pop and Jim Morrison. He has fronted various bands around the Atlanta area for almost six years. With cat-like grace and captivating stage presence, Stephen personifies POA's electric sound. Bassist Daniel Taylor has been playing bass guitar for almost eleven years, and professionally for eight. Daniel considers Mike Mills, Aaron Whisnant, and David J. a few of his biggest influences. Daniel's strong and steady bass riffs provide for a solid foundation on which their music is built on. Lead guitarist Trey Tidwell has been classically trained in guitar and voice and has composed and arranged commercial projects in the Atlanta area. He's also done session work with NG Records recording artists, The 45's. REM, The Church, and Radiohead are three of Trey's biggest inspirations. Billy Reeves, the backbone of the band, has been playing professionally for six years around the Atlanta music scene. Drummer Billy Reeves sites Pink Floyd, Rush, and Yes his biggest influences. He has been playing professionally around the Atlanta area for seven years. Rhythm guitarist Wesley Botts has played with several bands in Birmingham, and has also earned a degree in sound engineering at Full Sail, in Orlando, Florida. Wesley has played guitar for ten years, influences ranging from Jane's Addiction to Smashing Pumpkins.
Path of Allyson's songs possess an inescapable melodic quality which, when combined with strong hooks and a signature sound, makes for a very unique package. Each member has extensive performing experience and brings to the stage all the energy and intensity demanded by an audience. The styles and influences of each member, though different, find a common ground within the music of Path of Allyson. Give them a listen, and the music will speak for itself.

Press Reviews
"Path Of Allyson's diverse melodies have them compared with Bauhaus, the Cure, Iggy Pop, and Tool. The bands growing fan base can be attributed to their deep, dark tunes and intense stage presence. POA's live shows have made them a must-see around the south."
-David Gilby, MP3.COM

"Local five-piece Path of Allyson's large-minded arrangements and deep, affected vocals can't help but make them sound dark and dramatic -- and British -- in the tradition of Bauhaus or Nick Cave, with bits of modern rock mixed in for currency. It's an impressive adaptation of a familiar sound, which they present impeccably on their recent EP, Four Finger Mike's Butcher Shop."
-Sarig, Creative Loafing, 05/05/99

"Path Of Allyson is quickly becoming one of my favorite bands. With each new release they get more geled and focused. I sense a real good, solid chemistry within the band. They are one of the few new bands I've heard which actually work together as a band, (what a concept!) with each member equally important and responsible for the sound and feel of their music. There is now a P.O.A. sound. Solid bass lines that grab your attention, screaming, cutting guitar lines, haunting, hypnotic keyboards, that all come together with great drumming and distinctive vocals. This studio CD is professionally done. All the songs I loved on the EP are even better on this! Great album. Great band!"
-Lily, "The Web" Internet Magazine 03/98

"Each composition on blue letter diary is an expressive, sensitive journey through some of the most beautiful, energetic music these ears have heard in a long time! The group has a sound that is reminiscent of early 'Japan', sonically speaking. The energy levels are kept high, coupled with a tightly woven guitar/keyboard interplay as the vocals are deep. As we venture through this collection of songs, we are enveloped within a swirl of mystery and mysticism. Path Of Allyson can paint soundscapes that are enticing, alluring and infectious, leaving the listener wanting to hear more, and know more about the band! The lyrics are both sensitive and intelligent, displaying maturity in the craft of songwriting. blue letter diary is a serious musical expression in modern rock, authored by a very creative grouping of individuals. Their respective talents shine throughout this record, but they do not try to outdo each other. Each member complements the others in both their playing and singing, a combination that definitely is greater than the sum of its parts. Blue letter diary is a must for the serious music lover, an album that will give you insight, pause for thought and great melodies to digest it all!"
-Bruce E.J. Atkinson, 11/11/98

“...the path they walk is thorny and they tread a fine line between goth, punk, and pop, but this ensemble pulls it off magnificently. Tonight's show is a release party for their CD, BLUE LETTER DIARY, but even this superlative disc doesn't begin to suggest what you'll experience at their hypnotic and incredible live show."
-Gregory Nicoll, Creative Loafing, 02/98

“Formed in 1995 and named after the hurricane that shredded it's way through Georgia earlier that year,
this five man band from Atlanta creates a sound that is both dark and romantic. The music on this CD sounds to me to be influenced heavily by British pop bands like the Psychedelic Furs or maybe Iggy Pop.
At any rate, I loved it. The only criticism I have concerning this collection of music is that despite great songs and great production, there just isn't enough of it. The band does have a full-length release available entitled "Blue Letter Diary" that can be purchased through...http://www.pathofallyson.com. If you enjoy the dark and dramatic this band is for you.
