Limesix are ready to drift into your life on their first Cadmium Records release, "Moontip Heroine." A fitting soundtrack for a lazy summer day, Moontip features shimmering guitars, driving & melodic basslines, & forceful but controlled drumwork. Hushed vocal work forces the music into it's own dark corners & then bursts out in full feeling to relish the experience of life. A song cycle in the best way, merely as a recollection of love past, bookended by lush instrumentals, & finishing in the waning light of dusk with the acoustic "careen." Sounds redolent of Cornershop, The Verve, & Yo La Tengo light the way, as this promising new band prepare to leave their mark on music.

Limesix's Moontip Heroine is quite possibly the nicest soundtrack for the eight o'clock hour of a hazy summer evening that I've come across. With minor elements of Yo La Tengo and Seam, this lo-fi rock album will let the sun go down gently into the horizon. Vocals don't rise above a whisper unless urgency states so, keeping in tune with the Soo Young Park philosophy of singing. Guitars brush by the brisk drumming, and the songs float past.
The album was mainly recorded onto four-track, so the lo-fi aspect is evident here. The album seems somewhat muted, although it doesn't really take away from the songs. This is music that was meant to be lo-fi, and that would sound strangely out of place dressed up in glossy production.
It's not life changing, but it's certainly a pleasant listen.
