LARISSA - Princess of Power-Pop
Singer/Songwriter/Model Larissa, 23, loves performing. So she developed a two-pronged career in music and modeling, successfully merging her talents into one charismatic package.
A native of Tomsk/Siberia, Russia, Larissa began performing at the age of seven. In addition to studying music, she toured as a part of a Russian Folk group and steeled her passion and determination to write her own music.
Creatively marketing in tandem with her modeling gigs, she went on to perform at venues all over Europe and also got a lot of airplay in local radio stations.
As a model she was appearing in magazines like FHM, Maxim, Vogue de Moda, Chica, and won beauty awards like Miss Tomsk and Miss Model International.
Larissa's 2006 debut album, 'Blue', showcases her sweet and soulful voice with 13 romantic Power-Pop songs, featuring infectious hooks, Siberian flavours and solid, international production. A Pop/Rock-CD par excellence. Each song's a Hit. |

earBuzz Review: Larissa is dubbed as the "Siberian Madonna" - and, even though there's a chill in Siberian geography, there is nothing but heat from this songwriting dance/pop/rock artist. Her first CD, "Blue", is a 13-tune collection of English-sung tunes that hover in 80's pop/rock with updated production. It's easy to write off scantilly-clad pop vixens - but - we have to give credit to Larissa - who's voice is not only accessible but has a timbre that is endearing. She can sing. Her biography reveals experience since 7. The fact that she's teamed up with guitarist Frank Hanussek is good on both of them. She gets a hard edged collaborator in a sea of smooth dance types - he gets the ultimate combination in a sexy songstress. There's no reason why this CD can't be extremely successful in Europe and elsewhere. The CD opens with "Holy Land" - a feel good pop upbeat dance tune that has a crunchy guitar break that helps define the solid musical choices in the record. Track 2, "I Don't Know Where You Are", has a solid chorus and a vocal accent on top of English that reminds us of German-band, the Scorpions. Listen to the word "star" and "miss your kiss". Cool. Track 4, "Pack it Up and Go", has a Lena Lovitch sound to it. .mixed in with a bit of Dale Bozio. The title track, "Blue", has an eastern half-step vibe to the verse. The medium tempo is a showcase for Larissa voice - as the held-back accompaniment pushes the vocal farther forward to hear its nuances. Track 11, "This Night", is destined for the dance floor - complete with modern vocal processing that keeps things in the pocket and contemporary. Nice collection of diva dance pop rock.
