Wisconsin's Hum Machine is still has sold a total of 4,000 combined copies of their debut record, "Speed Kills the Dying Beat," and it's follow up, "The Trance Voltage Solution." Both records recieved exstensive air play on the college radio market and ended up charting in Gavin and CMJ.
Hum Machine played a total of 320 days from 1997 to 1999. Highlights included opening spots for two of Mike Watt's tours.
Hum Machine have a new release for 2000 called "Pay Victrola." On "Pay Victola," Hum Machine channeled the frustration a hard traveling band has to deal with into the energy bursting the seams of recording. High lights include: Natural's not in it, Hernando Tornado, and Water for Flowers.
Their goal is to tour untill they can't remember where they live, and so, like The Great White Buffalo, the band continues to roam the plains, never to be lost in the heard, No pun intended. |

"Swirling, guitar-driven tunes" Billboard 2,22,97
With 200-plus gigs under their belts for 98-99, it's a wonder that Hum Machine managed to find time to commit their spirited guitar rock to tape. This is the local outfit's third album, but they still play with the desperation-of a teenage band looking to bust up the moribund alt-punk club scene. Isthmus-4,23,99 madison, WI |
