| George Day hails from Snydersville, PA (northeastern PA). He has been writing and performing TRADITIONAL country music for most of his life and has worked with some of the well-known stars of country music, like Tammy Wynette, LeRoy VanDyke, Marvin Rainwater, Elton Britt, Merle Kilgore and Tommy Cash. He has composed more than 400 songs and has recorded 77 on his own G.N.J. Records label. The title cut from his CD release 'Wake on Up and Smell the Roses' reached chart position #11 on the Independent Country Charts in 1998, and the song was nominated for the Indie-Association Award. 'Mountain Rock' from the same CD reached #28 Indie. George Day has many accomplishments and achievements to his credit; he is an inductee into the National Library of Poetry Hall of Fame, won 1st place male vocalist at the International Traditional Country Song Championship in Avoca, IA (1997), and won first place at the Southwest Texas Songwriter's Association Competition in 1998. He was nominated for the King Eagle Award, Air Play International in 1998, and won that prestigious award in 1994. His latest release is 'Country Feelin's', a collection of 17 original, traditional country music selections, featuring an excellent cross-section of tempos, lyrics and subject material. |
