| Gabe Cahill has been making music for over a decade. In college he began distributing tapes to local stations in Lawrence, KS. Since then he has released two CDs, Space Junk and You Don't Know Me. Both received college radio play and good reviews. He is on the verge of releasing a third CD,1000, which promises to be his biggest and best to date. Gabe sings, plays guitar, writes and produces his own music. |

Cahill has released his first full length CD on his own Ant Hill Recordings. Titled "Space Junk," Cahill's vocals are sometimes melodically atmospheric and sometimes just plain raw. His music is in the vein of another young Omaha-area singer songwriter, Conor Oberst, who was influenced heavily by songwriter Simon Joyner. Cahill, though, has more of a Paul Westerberg aura about him - with a Bowie-like delivery - and his 14-song set is one of the more interesting releases by an Omaha act of late. It's unassuming and refreshingly different from much of what you hear on the radio today. "Back When," "Molotov Cocktail," and "Mistake" are great songs. So is the fuzz filled instrumental "Planets."
