Artist Bio
Evil Jake is an NYC-based melodic Rock band that puts Power back in “Power Pop”. Mixing the best of post-punk alternative psycho power pop with a shot of rockabilly and a twist of glam - or something like that - Evil Jake is already taking the world by storm. In recent months:

Evil Jake beat out Popa Roach, The Offspring, Deftones, and Flickerstick for the #1 positions on the mp3.com Power Pop & Pop Punk charts, peaking at 2,000 plays per day.
Evil Jake charted #3 on the mp3.com Rock chart, behind only Staind & Tantric
Evil Jake was featured in a Macy Gray Mountain Dew commercial shown during the World Series, Pro Football, and other major televised sporting events
Evil Jake music comprised the soundtrack of a Fox Sports Network Extreme Games segment
Evil Jake has garnered international airplay, from KANM (TX) to Radio Quer 104,6 Germany
Evil Jake brings together three veterans of top New York State bands, all top-notch musicians.
Mike Jacobs (guitars, vox) was a founding member of top NYC Power Pop band The Pasties and has been called a "Guitar Virtuoso" by the national press, which covered his work since his precocious club days at age 15. Paul Campanella (drums, bvox) and Aaron Trubic (bass, bvox) were respectively voted “Best Drummer” and “Best Bass Player” in their hometown and have played and recorded with some of the region's best musical acts.

All of this Evil musical talent is focused on superior songwriting and kick-ass live performances. With influence ranging from KISS to Motown to punk to straight-ahead rock, Evil Jake has been compared to a range of bands including Cheap Trick, Blink 182, Lit, Elvis Costello, and The Police. The hooks, melodies, licks and attitude are all in place. Called "The Who for the New Millennium" by one member of the NYC press, Evil Jake has what it takes to create a new yet familiar sound.

The Jeff Beck-meets-Danny Gatton fretwork of Mike Jacobs is matched only by his songwriting talents. A Brooklyn native, Mike nimbly moves from fluid melodic work to machine-gun licks, while entertaining audiences with his showmanship and vocal talents. Before Evil Jake, Mike played with numerous NYC bands, culminating in an appearance on NYC's MetroChannel, national radio airplay, numerous album credits, and opening slots for Vernon Reid, The Strokes, and VH1's Josh Dodes Band .

Before Evil Jake, drummer Paul Campanella and bassist Aaron Trubic were among the most requested and respected session teams in the region. Sharing the stage together for over a decade, this incredibly solid yet explosive rhythm section has performed with some of the area's best singer/songwriters, including Lilith Fair artist Alison Pipitone, Undercurrents 2001 sensation Michael Arden, top regional blues act Tommy Z, and tons of others you'll never hear from again.

With their well-crafted original music and a few well-selected covers, Evil Jake routinely packs such venues as Mercury Lounge, the Bitter End, and Arlene Grocery, the mainstays of Manhattan 's Lower East Side music scene. The band is currently gearing up for an East Coast tour, and their debut CD, Music to Strip By, is scheduled for release in early 2002.

Press Reviews
Evil Jake Rocks!
- KANM Radio in College Station , TX

Never heard of Evil Jake? Don't worry — soon they'll be one of those bands that you end up changing the radio station when their latest over-played hit comes on... Evil Jake call its music a mixture of power pop, punk and alt rock. I just call it good music.
- fm sound

...the leading candidate to bring back musicianship to rock and roll...
- Rod Brogan, ABC Radio

great instrumentation from this guitar virtuoso...

Falling Man, this song is, for lack of another word, great... Sweet pop/rock with an edge. This song kicks ass...

You can't go wrong with this band, as they simply ROCK...

Imagine a scene in the TV show Friends where Chandler and Joey are running around in a panic trying to get to a shop before it closes... Got that? Good, then you'll understand She's So Lonely is exactly the type of pleasant rock music they'll be playing as a soundtrack to the aforementioned scene... a jolly pop song being executed with style by a pro band.

- Slamrock

the band pushes out a sound that shows a lot of talent and potential from start to finish... Mike Jacobs has an excellent voice and showcases it through every song with grace and no wasted notes or unneeded screams.... the group has a bright future in the power pop business
- Slammalot

I can't stop listening... Why has to be the sexiest sounding song I've ever heard...
*sigh* I think I love you...
