Comprised of Matt Smith (guitar/lead vocals), David Evans (drums/percussion), and Geoff Archibald (bass/backup vocals), this dynamic blues/funk/rock power trio formed in 1995 and have since become one of the most distinct sounding local bands in Vancouver BC, Canada.
Since their formation, the group has played numerous shows including clubs, festivals, benefits, and have won a number of competitions. Highlights include winning the Tri-Cities Battle of the Bands three years in a row (the last of which earned them a spot opening up for The Matthew Good Band on May 8, 1998), playing to a packed house at The Yale with Brickhouse on May 23, 1999, and a benefit concert with fellow bluesman Rocky Milino Jr in November 1999. Additional concert events include The Roxy, Marine Club, Terry Fox Hometown Runs, Golden Spike Days, Pomopalooza and many others.
The unlikely combination of a hard-hitting Santana and Hendrix fan, a guitar virtuoso with influences ranging from Joe Satriani to Stevie Ray Vaughan to Blues Traveller, and a bass player raised on the Chilli Peppers and Fishbone, E.B.E's varied musical influences shine through as band members utilize a variety of playing styles to write material. As a result, their songs are often an ecelectic fusion of vocally oriented tunes, freeform jams, and live improvisation based in the roots of blues, funk, and rock.
The culmination of all these factors is the creation of a sound which E.B.E pride as being distinctly their own. The group's performances are exciting, atmospheric experiences full of raw energy, inspirational solos and infectious grooves, and allow the band to express themselves and communicate to their audiences freely through their instruments, their talents and above all, their passion to entertain by playing great music. |
