Our history extends farther then I would like to explain. The need to perform has been with us a long time. We need the artistic expression in our lives as well as the rush of the stage. After long stints in the desert of Southern Utah we return refreshed and ready to rock. We will be moving the operation to Portland OR. at the end of the summer.

Press Reviews
Redreviews from University Of Utah Chronicle by Brian Watts & Shane McCammon Elbo Finn "Cryptogamy Kills Cowboy" Its virtually impossible to define Elbo Finn's Music. Just when you think you've got them pegged down as a 70s-influenced folk band, they step on the distortion pedals and blow you away. When you think you've got them figured out as a psychedelic rock band, guest musicians shred the cat guts of violins and lead singer Jayson Gates Runs his lips ragged on his harmonica. After several unsuccessful attempts to find a nice, easy definition for the long-suffering Salt Lake band, you soon realize that the only way to effectively and honestly describe Elbo Finn's music is that it kicks ass. There is not a band in Salt Lake that is as talented as Elbo Finn. There is not a better band in Utah. There probably isn't a better band in the Rocky Mountain area. Gates not only can play the harmonica better than any hobo crouching under a viaduct, but has a very pleasing voice, the kind of voice that should make record companies drool. John Bjornn Crowther throws down a plethora of catchy riffs and head-bobbing licks on his acoustic and electric guitars, never allowing either instrument to dominate the album. Jake McCandless slaps his bass swell enough to be inconspicuous and drummer Maurice Helle drives Elbo Finn's kick ass music at a steady pace without drowning out his bandmates. All in all, Elbo Finn's 1997 release, "Cryptogamy Kills Cowboy" is exactly the album that the local music scene needs: chock full of talent, experimental songs that don't confine themselves to three minutes long formulaic pop and a distinctive sound that is perfectly undefinable.
