Artist Bio
The latest incarnation of the electro-industrial project called Brainclaw came into being shortly after David made the decision to amiably part ways with Philadelphia's Carfax Abbey, in early spring of 2002. Good friend and future life partner Tara Giuffre came on board, and began co-writing songs with David.

As new songs began arriving on the scene, several internet radio stations began noticing the Brainclaw sound, and began lending their support. The Official Brainclaw Website was tooled up and re-designed several times. The selection of the song Downsect for the Spiderbite Studios compilation called Perverions of Industry would prove to be a far-reaching event, right into the next two years. Brainclaw songs began topping electromusic charts on the internet and alternative radio stations in many parts of the world. A massive promotional push began, with CD press kits going out daily. The rest of 2002 was spent writing songs, getting press and club/radio spins and promoting at events.2003 began with new photoshoots by Philadelphia photographer Kyle Cassidy, further modifications and upgrades to the Official Brainclaw Website and a re-uniting with old bandmates in Carfax Abbey, who approached David and Tara with the idea of fleshing out and recording songs for Carfax's upcoming full-length release. The latter half of the year saw increased activity in the press, with many solid reviews of Brainclaw's Promo EP CD, especially a great review in Industrial Nation magazine. They finished up the Carfax Abbey CD as the year closed, having recorded and produced six new songs, and began preparations for the release of their own full-length CD, called Insekt/Angel. As the year ended, some truly spectacular news came to light: Warner Brothers, turned on to Brainclaw music because of the Spiderbite compilation appearance of a year ago, licensed the song When The Dark Rains Come for use in the DVD release of Matrix Revolutions. The new year began in a similarly amazing fashion, as Columbia Tristar Pictures licensed When The Dark Rains Come and Insekt/Angel for use on the DVD release of the Spiderman Collector's Edition DVD. The new Brainclaw CD was finally released to an increasingly interested electromusic community, and reviews and support began arriving from the U.K., Japan, Germany, Canada, and many other places around the world, including many places in North America. The Insekt/Angel Summer 2004 tour has been a great success, with plans for summer 2005 tour dates already being discussed. Warner Brothers have recently licensed four more songs from Insekt/Angel for the Matrix DVD Box Set,

Currently, the Insekt/Angel CD has been picked up for distribution by Metropolis Records, and is selling well. Studio Auroviral, Brainclaw's in-house recording facility, has been re-built around a dual 2.0 gHz processor Powermac G5. Several bands are remixing Brainclaw songs, and Brainclaw will be remixing other bands in the near future. James Sewell of Divers Lust has come on-board as hybrid kit drummer and the infamous Lorie K has joined up as synthesist for the live shows. Most recently, four Brainclaw songs have appeared on the newly released Matrix Box Set DVD Collection, with several more songs appearing in some new independent films across the country. The new Brainclaw CD called Dead Monsters is finished being written and recorded, and is presently with several interested parties considering manufacture and distribution. A Fall 2005 release is looking realistic at this point. Stay tuned for futher developments...

Press Reviews
“Another act worth catching is Brainclaw from Pennsylvania. Reminiscent at times of And One and others, later period Skinny Puppy, this male/female duo really know how to put great tracks together. With their ready-for-release production and excellent songwriting abilities, Brainclaw are a sure bet for a label signing soon. Stand out track: ‘Insekt/Angel.' I also encourage you to check out their website and MP3.com for more info and track!” - Cage 23 of INDUSTRIAL NATION

"There's nothing quite as exciting as a demo that makes you jump up down with excitement, knowing that you have discovered a superb new band that you just can't wait to tell everybody about. Well that's what this 6-track offering from the US duo of Tara Kurtz & David Giuffre did to me. If there's any justice in this world then they're going to be huge. Giuffre has released albums under the Brainclaw name before now but, with new recruit Kurtz on board the time is right for them to really set the EBM world on fire. Their music is an explosive electro industrial cocktail that foregoes any modern techno influences in favour of rock-style rhythms such as those found on the opening "Dead Life". As good as this track is it's merely the calm before the storm as the duo unleash a salvo of absolutely top class tracks with the instantly addictive "Unsafe" among them, along with "Softkill" which is almost certain to appeal to NIN fans, although Brainclaw take the possibilities so much further. "Insekt/Angel" is another winner as the muscular mid-paced rhythms acts as a basis for a series of hooks that will not let you go with the choir effects that add a darkly majestic touch being the icing on the cake, even the ending is superb! The darker overtones that run throughout the disc hint at possible gothic tendancies. These are given full rein on "When The Dark Rains Come" which is totally evocative of it's title, being melancolic & melodramatic simulataneously, It's easy to see how they managed to get on the "Matrix Revolution" DVD soundtrack album! When Brainclaw's album "Insekt/Angel" is released in February I'm totally convinced it's going to blow your minds, this is the future of electronic music & it rocks!!" - Carl Jenkinson, HARDWIRED

"On their current album Morrisville, PA residents Brainclaw aka David Giuffre (synthesizers, samplers, drum programming, lyrics, vocals) and his wife/partner in crime Tara (drum programming, sound design, effects, lyrics, vocal) seduce us with another tasty electro industrial menu.

Already the opener "Softkill" states the talent of the duo with regard to dithyrambic melodies, choruses, sound details and atmospheres. The track holds loads of energy and drive, fizzling and bubbling sounds and the alternating vocals of David and Tara. This duet way of singing is generally one of their trademarks and adds an exciting edge to the music, sometimes mystic, sometimes aggressive and dangerous.
Further on it doesn't get boring to listen cause the two musicians include loads of breaks, experiments and different style elements; apart from EBM/electro and industrial there's also some darkwave and even gothic flavour inside. It's not possible at any time to compare their music with other bands' outcome, and that's a plus, too. Sometimes good old Xorcist come to my mind, but that's only a tiny li'l splinter of their influences. Albeit I partly feel reminded of the mid/end 90's, their music also spreads some 80's flair as well as some up-to-date fragrance. "Insekt/Angel" serves everything that a good record must include. Fiery trips for the dancefloors ("Deadlife", "Incessant Surveillance") can be found as well as midtempo pieces ("Insekt/Angel") and touching ballads ("Burn My Will"). The remixes in the end of the record show the title track in various lights, so this is a nice bonus. I'm sure this band is about to find a record label very soon. Recommendable." - Breda, VIRUS!
