Bobby Gudgeon - BIO
I was born and raised in beautiful Santa Barbara, CA and started playing guitar
and singing at about age 12. My older brother was a singer/song writer so I tried to learn
as much as I could from him. My younger brother was soon to follow and is now an
accomplished guitar player. I guess you could say “music runs in the family.” My
younger brother and I started a rock band when I was in high school where I played bass
and did all of the lead vocals. It didn't last long but we had a great time practicing in our
garage and performing when we could. I remember the rush I got the first time we played
in front of an audience. It's a memory I will cherish forever. I have been writing songs
since I was about 17 and have always had a great love for creating my own music. My
biggest musical influences were Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, The Who, Jimi Hendrix, and
The Eagles. I have since moved to the small town of Lompoc located on the central coast
of California. The last few years of my life have been very difficult ones but I think that I
am a stronger and wiser person having made it through them. Just recently, I was inspired
to write some songs that are drawn from my life experiences, most of which are very
personal. One song is about the tragic events of September 11th, one is about my father
who passed away about 12 years ago, one is about living life with clinical depression, and
yet another is about the breakup of my 15 year marriage. Music has always been a
passion of mine and song writing is a great outlet to express my feelings. I decided to
record my songs and make a Demo CD. The music was recorded on 4 tracks at home and
I am very proud of my work. All of my songs have harmony to the lead vocals which was
probably the most difficult task in recording this Demo. My style of music is kind of hard
to categorize. Some songs are light rock, some sound a little bit country, while others
would be described as easy listening. I just write what comes to me. My family and my
friends all love the music that I have written and have encouraged me to pursue a career
as a singer/song writer. I figured it was worth a shot and am currently pursuing my
dream. |
