"Prologue" The story of Amnion began as a small project started by Pat Roesle(vocals), Brian Popeck(drums), Brian Davies(Bass), and Greg Goodson(Guitar). We formed in the winter of 98' as BLACKLITE. Things were going smoothly until Pat lost interest in Greg. This divided the Brians; Popeck, choosing Greg, Davies, sticking with Pat. Pat seeing the unlikelihood of BLACKLITE's success lost all hope in our cause. A shame too because Pat had vocal talents, similar goals and was a brillant lyricist. So Brian Davies saw Pat's unwanted departure as a chance for him to test his own vocal talents, and still feeling loyal to Pat joined Greg and Popeck to form ANAVRIN, a title which Pat, and Brian had previously considered calling themselves.
Episode: 1 "Exodus" Anavrin, wanted to really get it together, and by the summer of 99' had assembled a lovely listing of songs. Our sound back then was very much a combo of Metal and Alternative Rock. Anavrin got a few shows together, and were very excited to perform; we were really sounding great, then.... A rival band "The 8th Day", swept Greg towards the insidious sounds of their weak, watered down Metallica sound... Anavrin suffered a mortal blow that fall when he left. They tried to continue writing, but who's heard of a rock band without a guitarist? We were stuck having to cycle through 4 guitarists: Kevin Feeney, Mark Cocheo, Andy Michaels, and Charlie who despite their talent couldn't work with our material. None of them lasted for more then a week, we had almost given up, when suddenly we realized the one person who would be able to save Anavrin, and this man's name was.......JEF BOURLIER!!!!
Episode 2: "Catalyst" Jef was perfect for Anavrin's unique sound, he was the catalyst, that started the amazing sound we've attained today!! He saved us, our knight in tiger-print pajamas... Ah, the wonder that is Jef..... With our band being truly reborn, I thought we would need a more original name. Jef suggested FETAL SNOWPLOW, but I though maybe something with a deep seeded meaning behind it. So after much deliberating, we decided to be reborn into AMNION. This is what I knew the band needed, a fresh start. So now finally all the bits of thoughts have been sewn into a beautiful musical tapestry. However this tapestry had a flaw... Jef ended up leaving us in September of 2000 to pursue his dream of joining a(sorry to say).......a SKA band....... *ouch* So now Amnion searched endlessly for a (hopefully) permanant guitarist....
Episode 3: "Transcension" Two weeks after the departure of Jef. All hope was lost... Then the name Dave Borsky was suggested to us.... Little did we know that our loss, was really a greater gain... Finally.. We have found a guitarist that plays good, and LIKES OUR MUSIC... Greg didn't like our "Grunge" side, and Jef didn't like our "Harder" side. Dave however likes BOTH!! Unprecedented in the history or our band... This is what we've been searching for! After almost 3 years in existance, we've found a guitarist who can tolerate ALL aspects of our music... and we couldn't be more excited to work. After accomplishing many shows, we have continually improved our sound. Three years in the making, we currently have over 10 originals. |
