| "With each song, I paint a poetic image that transcends common trains of thought. I paint my musical pictures with paint that few people use... ...like the 3-D posters in the mall that only some people can see (and others have to cross their eyes first), my music uses effects, layers, and sounds to depict a thought. The music then comes through as something that's hard to define, yet original." |

Lloyd Work, Archia writes:
Listening to Alan Houser's music is like peering into a mirror -- the longer you listen to it, the more you discover about yourself.
With tremendous lyrical depth and insight, he weaves his thought-provoking lyrics on top of his unique blend of melodic pop/rock, enticing the listener to examine their own soul.
Like artists such as Bob Dylan and Bruce Cockburn, Alan conveys his message with raw honesty that is hard to come by.
After 2 years of hard work, the 30-year old Indianapolis native has just put the finishing touches on his self-produced debut album entitled "Flashlight Tag @ Midnight".
Inspired by bands like U2, The Cure, and New Order, Alan has created a compelling disc that showcases his unique style. His rich production work mirrors efforts by Daniel Lanois and Brian Eno, with an occasional touch of Rhett Davies.
This disc has the perfect blend of noise, pop, and attitude to get airplay by any serious AOR station.
Flashlight Tag @ Midnight contains 10 tracks (9 listed tracks plus 1 "hidden" track) which takes a musical journey through the mind and soul of a person who is struggling to maintain honesty and integrity in a fallen world.
Topics such as vulnerability, trust, faith, hope, and love are prevalent throughout the disc and conveyed in such a manner that keeps the listener searching.
Alan's musical talent and years of recording education have definitely paid off, and Flashlight Tag @ Midnight is one tremendous disc. |
